Senior check for cats
Preventive checkup for your senior cat
Cats often do not show us they are not feeling well. When you start noticing a change in behaviour, it may already be too late. What you can see is, for example, that they lose weight, have a less shiny coat, drink more or become fussy. Also, they can start to vomit out of the blue, jump on the kitchen counter less smoothly than before, come to lie with you more often, smell a little less fresh from their mouths or suddenly don’t allow you to cut their nails so easily anymore… All subtle hints that something may be going on.
Because preventing diseases or treating them when they are not so serious has a much better result, is less stressful for your cat, easier and also cheaper, we advise you to do perform a senior check every year for your senior cat.
What does a senior check involve?
A senior check consists of a comprehensive 30-minute consultation. We will take plenty of time for a thorough examination and answer all of your questions. During this consultation, we will perform the following:
- Your cat will be weighed and checked from head to toe
- Blood is drawn for comprehensive blood tests (including blood count, electrolytes, kidneys, thyroid, pancreas, sugar, liver values)
- Your cat’s blood pressure is measured
- A comprehensive urinalysis is done
- If desired, nails are clipped
Based on the results, you will be consulted whether and, if so, what treatment would be advisable. Everything is clearly communicated and is done in consultation with you.
Questionnaire senior check
To carry out the senior check in the best possible way, we ask you to fill in this questionnaire on beforehand.
