Vaccination for your rabbit
Vaccination for rabbits
Rabbits often hide when they are unwell, and if they are sick, it can have serious consequences for them. That’s why it’s important to have your rabbit vaccinated on time and to have regular check-ups with the veterinarian.
What do we vaccinate against?
There are two diseases against which we vaccinate your rabbit: myxomatosis and the RHD virus (both RHD1 and RHD2). Myxomatosis and RHD are viral diseases that can also affect pet rabbits. Unfortunately, both viruses are often fatal. Vaccinating your rabbit helps protect them from these diseases. A single annual vaccination is sufficient for effective protection.
Rabbits can be vaccinated from the age of 5 weeks. After vaccination, it takes 3 weeks for sufficient immunity against the viruses to develop.
Vaccinate indoor rabbits too!
There is often a misconception about whether indoor rabbits need vaccination. They absolutely do, as these pets can also be exposed to disease. Infection can occur through insects, contaminated food, or by bringing pathogens inside on your shoes or hands.
