Merel Velkers

Hi dear all,

My name is Merel and I live with my parents, my little brother and my 5 lovely British shorthairs in Purmerend. Ever since I was little, I have loved being around animals and that is why I knew I really wanted to do this work.

When I first joined Dierenkliniek Vondelpark, I immediately felt at home because of the warm and cosy atmosphere. I graduated as a paraveterinarian at the Clusius College in Alkmaar in June 2023, so I am still learning a lot, and I enjoy doing this every day. I like the fact that my work is so varied and challenging, so no day is ever the same!

In my free time, I like to go to the terrace with my boyfriend and/or girlfriends, or go shopping in different cities in the Netherlands. I also like to go to Gran Canaria with my boyfriend! And oh yes, do you know what really is my happy place? Watching a series together on a Friday night with Pablo (1 of my British shorthairs) in bed 🙂.
