October = Month of the Senior Cat

Month of the Senior Cat

October is the Month of the Senior Cat! Cats are considered ‘senior’ from 7 years of age. At this stage, they are more likely to develop age-related issues and progressive conditions such as arthritis, kidney disease, and diabetes. Often, owners don’t immediately notice that something is wrong, making it all the more important to pay extra attention to cats aged 7 and older.

Special offer: Free blood pressure check

Cats often only show subtle signs when they’re unwell. Your cat may lose a little weight, have a duller coat, drink more or less than usual, or become pickier with food. Sometimes they vomit occasionally, move less gracefully, spend more time resting, have a less fresh-smelling mouth, or resist having their nails trimmed. These are all subtle hints that something might be wrong.

At De Dierenkliniek, preventive care is a top priority. That’s why throughout October, we’re offering free blood pressure checks for cats aged 7 and older, in honor of the Month of the Senior Cat.

Why a blood pressure check?

Older cats often have high blood pressure without showing obvious signs. High blood pressure can lead to serious problems such as heart failure, blindness, and kidney failure. Blood pressure checks help us detect these issues early, so we can take action before they become serious.
